FR-4 PCB is made of glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin, offering good electrical performance and strong versatility.
It is widely used in various general electronic applications.
In contrast, an aluminum PCB uses an aluminum metal base,
which is covered with a high thermal conductivity insulating layer, with copper circuitry laminated on top.
Thanks to its metal base, aluminum PCB provides excellent thermal conductivity,
allowing heat generated by high-power components to be efficiently transferred and dissipated.
This helps reduce operating temperatures and improves overall system reliability and service life.
By comparison, FR-4 PCB has relatively limited heat dissipation capability and is more suitable for low- to medium-powerapplications.
From a mechanical perspective, aluminum PCB offers better overall rigidity and dimensional stability,
maintaining stable performance under high-temperature or high-power operating conditions.
This makes it well suited for mounting power devices. FR-4 PCB,
on the other hand, features good toughness and manufacturing flexibility,
making it ideal for complex circuits and multilayer designs.
Due to these characteristics, aluminum PCBs are widely used in high-power LED lighting, power modules,
automotive electronics, and other applications where efficient heat dissipation is critical,
while FR-4 PCB remains the standard choice for most general-purpose electronic devices and multilayer circuit designs.
